When joking, you have to be serious. Piero, his students and Katia show us a light-hearted way of being profound.

I am Fabrizio, I’m 29 and I come from Rome. I’ve spent most of my life there, but as soon as I turned 18 I started travelling around. Once in my 14-16 I experienced for the first time that feeling of connection with something greater than me, that feeling you get when your thinking becomes clear as water and sharp as a blade. I craved for more ever since. After a few years of wandering between a job and another experimenting other me, I enrolled in my first cinema school where I had my first approach with a camera. Since then filming is all I have wanted to do. I’ve made a couple of independent short films, and I've been working as a camera operator for some television documentaries, mostly about hunting, nature or social themes. But this didn’t keep me from studying. I attended several classes for acting, editing and writing, working on my projects and talking about cinema. Finally I felt it was time to take some years to focus on studies only, then I applied to ZeLIG.

    Max Hörner

I, Max Hörner, was born and raised in Stuttgart, Germany. Growing up I was lucky enough to have a mother that was always pushing us children to educate ourselves in all kinds of arts. After I graduated from high school in 2017 I went to Bayreuth to study Media Science and Media Praxis. There I quickly discovered my passion for documentaries and also cinema in general. I never really liked to write paper after paper but rather wanted to make movies myself. In 2020 I went for an Erasmus year to Rome where I learned Italian and started looking for opportunities to study documentary filmmaking in Italy. That's how I discovered ZeLIG.

    Riccardo Brugnara

Riccardo Brugnara, born in Trento in 1997, thanks to my parents I could be in nature and travel from a young age becoming the curious guy I feel to be today. When I was 16 I started working in warehouses or in bars during Summer after my father made me notice that I had too much free time, so after getting my diploma in computer science and enjoying an Interrail through Europe I wanted to make some more experience abroad and went working in England. I then decided to go for a degree in politics and while doing that I discovered the existence of ZeLig, cinema was always there in my life. My love for stories and freedom created this idea of me that I want to make real, "starting" from this experience at ZeLig.

DIRECTOR'S NOTE

What does it mean to have a clown within? It is the ability to tell your own story playfully. Playfulness is what I loved watching Piero’s play and following him with the camera behind the scenes. As a clown he is a wise child, but as an entrepreneur is eclectic and hyperactive, strategic and prepared.
